I visited "Jidoriya Onza," located in Otsu City near Lake Biwa. Congratulations on winning the Tabelog Award Bronze for 2018-2026! Additionally, it has been selected as one of the Top 100 Chicken Restaurants by Tabelog in 2025. This yakitori restaurant has been in operation since June 2006 and is known for being difficult to reserve. The nearest stations are JR Kosei Line's Katata and Ono stations. It is situated in a quiet residential area, away from the main road. A poultry farm and a live chicken specialty store are adjacent to the restaurant. The interior features spacious table seating, as well as sunken kotatsu seating and terrace seating. The design of the restaurant is by the owner, Takahira Kawanaka, who is a licensed first-class architect from Shiga Prefecture. The decor is charming and playful. Here is the course menu we enjoyed today:Omi Chicken Feast Course - Grilled with Binchotan Charcoal○ 3 Appetizers- Omi Chicken Breast with Bang Bang Sauce- Fried Omi Chicken Skin- Simmered Omi Shamo Chicken○ Grilled Omi Chicken with Straw - Breast and Thigh○ Various Cuts of Omi Chicken (shared)(Thigh, Back Liver, Gizzard, Hanging Tender, Bonjiri, Comb, Tail Skin, Kidney, Heart, Neck Meat, Chicken Wings)○ Clay Pot Rice○ Rice with Raw Egg○ Matcha Ice Cream, Mango Yogurt, and KonpeitoThis chicken restaurant, adjacent to a poultry farm and a live chicken specialty store, offers a farm-to-table experience.A few personal thoughts...The meat quality is juicy and has a nice bounce. Grilled over Binchotan charcoal, the flavors are locked in and expand in your mouth with each bite. You can enjoy everything from the "comb" to the "tail."I thoroughly enjoyed the Omi Chicken. I will definitely visit again. It was a great meal!
