I had been wanting to visit this place ever since I saw the owner’s YouTube video on how to make Lu Rou Fan, which I tried to replicate and found delicious.I arrived around 9:30 AM, and it seemed that the sign-up had already started, as there were no other customers present, so it must have begun about 15 minutes earlier.I managed to secure the last time slot at 14:20. The other time slots were already fully booked, and if I had been a bit later, I would have missed out on this final slot, so I felt fortunate to get it.I returned about 5 minutes before my time and entered the restaurant. It appears that they allow 6 people per session, and customers are admitted in the order they signed up to place their orders.Among the group of customers, two seemed to be regulars or fans, eagerly chatting with the owner about their previous visits and what they had eaten, which made it hard for me to focus on my meal.Another customer kept asking the owner about changing their order and what certain dishes were, but the owner clearly seemed annoyed, almost angry, which made me wonder about their attitude towards customers. Overall, the noise made the atmosphere uncomfortable.I ordered the Roka Plate and Lamb Curry, but honestly, I wasn’t impressed. I felt it was lacking, and I wished I could have experienced more of the spice aromas. Perhaps it was because it was the last time slot, or maybe the uncomfortable atmosphere made it hard to enjoy the flavors. Either way, I left feeling disappointed with my first experience at Roka.
