May 2026I visited this restaurant with a friend who loves eel. It’s one of the places I’ve been curious about for a while: **Unagi Uomasa**.*Awarded Tabelog's Top 100 Restaurants in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2024* *Bronze Award from Tabelog from 2017 to 2024* *Silver Award from Tabelog in 2025 and 2026*This is undoubtedly a renowned eel specialty restaurant in the Kanto region! Their commitment to specially ordered live eel results in an incredibly fluffy, tender, and melt-in-your-mouth texture. This time, we ordered the course: *JPY 18,000 Course*- Appetizers - Simmered Eel Strips - Simmered Liver - Grilled Liver Skewers - Uzaku (Eel and Cucumber Salad) - Grilled Eel (Kurikara Shira-yaki) - Bone Crackers - Unaju (Eel Rice Box) - Soup and Pickles - Dessert The course included a kurikara shira-yaki that was so fluffy it could be cut with chopsticks! The flavor of the eel was rich, and Uomasa's homemade liver salt was exquisite. The unaju featured thick slices of eel and was very filling! It’s often said to be the softest eel in Japan, and I completely agree—it was wonderfully fluffy and tender.I got off at Yotsugi Station for the first time in my life, and this has become one of the places I want to visit again. It’s a bit far, though... haha.It was a great meal!
