I visited the extremely famous curry restaurant "Roka" after four years since my last visit in January 2022, and it was my first time after their relocation due to building deterioration. I enjoyed their increasingly refined spice curry.---Part Two of the Nishishinjuku Curry Hundred Famous Restaurants Tour---They are open for dinner only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and you can start signing in at 4 PM. I arrived at 3:45 PM and was able to sign in early. Since I had lunch at "Achakana," I made a reservation for the last entry at 7 PM (time restrictions are allowed if there’s availability). I returned after a brief work break to visit again. The sign-in system is truly reassuring. The new space is slightly smaller than the previous location, with only six counter seats. The owner, Eri-tin, greeted me with her lovely smile and said, "I wanted to have a face-to-face experience."I ordered from the paper menu:■ Roka Plate ¥1,250 (changed to limited) + ¥200 - Pork belly and bitter melon Achari Curry (This curry has a tangy flavor based on lime pickles.) - Onion Achaar - Salad - Side dish (daily special) bean sprout Poliyal - Mustard oil Takana on top ■ Choose 2 types of curry ¥1,100 - Roka Chicken Curry - Creamy Vegetable Korma Curry [Thoughts] - Limited Curry The "Achari Curry" is made by incorporating spices and tanginess used in Achaar, perfect for summer as it promotes metabolism and makes you sweat a little. - Roka Chicken Curry As expected from the queen of spices, this curry is exquisite! It’s spicy yet incredibly delicious, making you want to keep eating! It has a nostalgic flavor that is addictive. - Creamy Vegetable Korma Curry Milder in spice. It has a gentle taste that balances the spiciness of the other curries. After the meal, I enjoyed a spoonful of sugar fennel from the table. It has a sweet and refreshing taste. It’s said to aid digestion as well. Such thoughtful care from a female owner. At the time of payment, I asked Eri-tin, "I took a photo four years ago; are you still okay with being photographed?" ...Actually, I had asked her four years ago if I could take a photo. At that time, Eri-tin replied, "Of course! I’m free-spirited!" That was the first time I heard someone say they were "free-spirited." Of course, this time she kindly agreed again.---* There was also lamb curry (Vindaloo style) available. Choosing lamb adds ¥100.
