A celebratory victory party for the Kobelco Steelers, who secured first place in the league with an away win. I had faith that this would happen and made a reservation at a special restaurant for tonight. Instead of a course, I opted for a la carte. The reason for choosing a la carte was that I wanted to enjoy these two dishes individually: honey char siu and crispy-skinned roasted pork. These were the two dishes I craved after having them during a previous course meal. I had tried them at a sister restaurant, but I still believe Fureika serves them best. I ordered these first and then stared at the extensive menu.To celebrate the Steelers' victory, I raised a glass with my rugby friends. Sipping beer while nibbling on char siu, I kept glancing at the menu. Drinking beer and enjoying the crispy pork, I continued to scrutinize the menu. The excellence of these two appetizers makes you want to repeat this cycle endlessly. However, we couldn't just keep doing that, so we took turns mentioning what we wanted to eat:Normal fried chicken, black vinegar sweet and sour pork, Fureika-style dan dan noodles, Fureika-style oyster sauce yakisoba, and clam fried rice with egg whites and mitsuba.Since we had been drinking at the stadium, our orders were all familiar dishes you could find at local Chinese restaurants. They were mostly meat and carbohydrates, which surprised the professional female staff a bit. When I ordered the fried chicken, I was told, "This is just regular fried chicken," which was amusing. We also requested a vegetable dish that the staff suggested, which was interesting given our meat-heavy orders. But that’s just fine. I wasn’t in the mood for high-end ingredients today; I was curious about how familiar dishes would taste at Fureika. In the end, the fried chicken, which was emphasized as "normal," was anything but ordinary. The batter was light and delicate, bursting in the mouth like tiny bubbles, and the chicken was so fluffy it felt almost steamed. It was a fried chicken that made me smile with its elegance. The surprise and joy of having fried chicken that was anything but ordinary. The sweet and sour pork was also perfectly steamed and fried, with a tender texture. The clam fried rice had a delightful aroma and flavor, with tiny bits of dried tomato sprinkled throughout, providing a pleasant acidity that showcased the chef's skill. Once again, Fureika impresses. The Chinese food I usually eat transformed into something extraordinary. We also enjoyed a bit of dim sum, and then there was a pineapple and cheese spring roll! This was so intriguing that I wanted to try making it at home. Finally, I was full after the almond tofu. It was a great meal.Oh! I had meant to try the Peking duck here, but I forgot. But that’s okay. I will definitely come back here. No, I want to come back. I genuinely felt that way after the victory celebration at Fureika.
