After a long time, I visited Yanagiya in Gifu. It’s a 1.5-hour drive from Nagoya, located in an old house deep in the mountains. I enjoyed grilled eel (shira-yaki and kabayaki), various game meats, venison, quail, wild vegetables, tempura, and seasoned rice. They also had a great selection of white and red wines, beer, and highballs, along with plenty of river fish. It was absolutely fantastic!
