(SWIPE FOR MORE PICS) Cafe Carducci seems like a simple cafe but from what I gathered from locals it is really an institution that carried a lot of history and memories for their customers. Pic 1: Chef Ciro Esposito (Pic 1 Left), who whipped up my pasta and every order from the restaurant in the tiny open kitchen at the cheese and charcuterie counters filled with fine selection of cheese and ham. He has been working in this restaurant / cafe for 40 years. The younger gentleman is Mr. Pier Stefano Bianconi (Pic 1 right, Pic 2) the 4th generation owner who was so delighted when he heard we loved his charcuterie especially the soprèssa, he proudly showed us the log and explained to us that it was (Pic 3). His great grandfather moved here and opened “Osteria Carducci” in 1928, he was born here and he decided to take over the family business when his father decided to retire from then “Bar Carducci” and changed it to a cafe / restaurant that opens their door every day at 7am till 11pm except Sunday (this info is all on their website, you can check it out and read about their stories)

You see, this kind of place cannot be bad. Because it is not just a family business, it is family pride. It is tradition that they are proud of, and you can tell from the ingredients, such as the buffalo mozzarella with anchovies from Cantabric sea (both really good quality), their variety of charcuterie and cheese (Pic 3-5), and homemade pasta that is cooked fresh to your order (Pic 6). Their desserts were not bad either, an unconventional mille feuille and a good cup of tiramisu (Pic 7-8).

While I wouldn’t say this is a place that you should fly over for, if you are in town, this is definitely a cool place for a casual meal or even some pastries or coffee (ok please do get some soprèssa 😄) , because you don’t just eat here, you get to feel a bit of the history of Verona and meet these two very kind gentlemen Less
