Mack Allen’s has that old-school glamour feel with a modern Houston twist. The space is gorgeous, from the massive 50-seat bar to the lush quarter-acre garden courtyard.

Everything we ordered is something I’d order again, especially the Smoked Duck Gumbo, Escargot with Bone Marrow and Garlic Scampi Sauce, Pan-Seared Snapper with Crab and Yuzu Risotto, NY Strip (cooked *perfectly* according to my husband), and those mini cornbread muffins. And save room for Mack Allen’s Carrot Cake, it’s stuffed with cheesecake!

Whether you’re stopping in for a drink at the bar, dinner with friends, or date night (they do something special if you’re celebrating an anniversary), this is one of those Houston spots that feels like an experience from the moment you walk in.
