Eclectic, modern décor sets the scene for decadent dining at the newly renovated Chequers Inn in Ettington, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. The Good Pub Guide listed restaurant has been given a new, design-led lease of life, with tasselled lampshades, unique artwork and textured, floral wallpaper, whilst remaining true to the same warm and welcoming 18th Century pub customers loved before.

The menu is bursting with simple, rustic dishes made with love and owners Paul and Aman are committed to using only the finest, locally sourced ingredients, celebrating the seasons with their ever-changing seasonal menus. The beautifully planted garden has also been given a makeover, making it a wonderful choice to wile away the Summer, whilst enjoying something cold and refreshing.

The new Spring menu takes in pub classics with a twist, like handmade beef and lamb burgers and Homemade Chicken Curry, as well as dishes like Pan Fried Seabass with Wild Rice Black Olives and a Cherry Tomato Compote. There is also a range of constantly-changing sharing platters to choose from, and even a takeaway menu, meaning that there really is something for everyone. The 38-cover restaurant is inviting and charming; the perfect spot for lunch, dinner or a casual bite at the well-stocked bar which offers a vast selection of wine and beer.

The pub even has its very own brew - The ‘Chequers Pale Ale’; the perfect accompaniment to a Pork and Chorizo Scotch Egg on a balmy Summer’s evening.

The cocktail list features a plethora of classic drinks, from Kir Royale’s and Aperol Spritz’s to Caipirinhas and Negronis, so cocktail lovers need not worry – they will be spoilt for choice. Different, slightly decadent, and well worth a visit. ‘
