Everybody's married to a style. No sponsorship here, just an honest, objective take — so let's argue: is this the best NY style pizza in metro Atlanta?

Tough to make a strong case against Joe's New York Pizzeria in Alpharetta — 1605 Mansell Road, almost in Roswell, right across from Lowe's. The pizza rustica is extra good, and it comes from the same owner as the late Verra-Zanno, once in Johns Creek.
Don't confuse it with any other "Joe's" — this one stands on its own. Over the years I've traded notes with a lot of pizza fanatics, and yes, yes — native New Yorkers in particular love this place. Joe has owned pizza shops in New York himself. Staying objective: the crust isn't quite as thin as some NY-style purists want. But it's about as close to unanimous as you'll get in the Grubber family — Joe's is the top NY style pizza in the metro. All three of my adult kids chowed down in Manhattan last year on a music festival trip, and Mrs. Grub and I were up there ourselves just a few months back.

And for the "well, I'm from NY" crowd — I'm from NJ, which Food & Wine rightfully named the best pizza state in the country. Family stuff has had me eating across NJ a lot the past 3-4 years — top-rated spots in the north and south of the state. So yes, I already know where you're from.

Joe's belongs in every conversation about the best pizza in metro Atlanta. I'm one of about 3.8K accounts Dave Portnoy follows on X, and I've tagged him more than once — still can't figure out how El Presidente hasn't made it in for a slice.
