I made a reservation for 6 PM on a holiday and found three other groups of customers already there, but more and more seats filled up as the evening went on.Once seated, I was asked for my drink order and served an appetizer. The appetizer included pickled vegetables, burdock root salad, blanched mushrooms, and white sesame salad. The white sesame salad had a unique aroma that was quite enticing and paired well with the drinks. Each dish had a delicious, natural flavor typical of a soba restaurant. Next, I tried the soba gaki, which had a slightly coarse texture and a lovely soba flavor with a hint of sweetness. I ordered the soba in two styles: seiro and inaka soba. They served each style one at a time. The seiro was smooth with a strong soba flavor and sweetness, while the inaka soba had a coarser texture and a more complex taste than the seiro. I personally preferred the seiro, but that’s just a matter of taste. The soba-yu (soba water) was light yet still packed with soba flavor, which shows the high quality of the soba itself. There were many other items on the menu, so I definitely want to come back and enjoy a drink here at a more leisurely pace.I had beer and Japanese sake, and the total bill was around JPY 6500.
