The hire filet was also quite good. Nice crisp, not too fatty, juicy, and great for those who prefer leaner cuts. The complimentary soup is not posted BUT that pork soup was incredible and worth a notable mention. ?

The special rosu plate (larger in size and fattier) was our favorite, even when compared across the other top-ranked shops such as Narikura (#cityfoodsters_narikura) and Tonta (#cityfoodsters_tonta). ?

Getting our tonkatsu fix at Maruichi (とんかつ 丸一), one of Tokyo's finest shops for pork cutlet. Chef Masaru Yamagawa learned the art of tonkatsu from his father, who started the restaurant about 50 years ago. We ordered 3 plates with combinations of rosu (loin - fattier) and hire (filet - leaner). This place is worth the trek to the outskirts of the city; just arrive 1 hour early to ensure a spot in the first seating.
