Halfway to Matsuyama, we stopped in the Kagawa Prefecture, an area well known for its udon noodles. Unfortunately, all the udon spots are closed for dinner so we ended up at a famous roast chicken restaurant called Ikkaku (一鶴 高松店), which opened back in 1952. They serve and specialize in 2 types of chicken - Oyadari (Adult Chicken) and Hinadori (Young Chicken) - with different textures and flavors. The chickens arrived at our table sizzling on a silver platter in a pool of garlic-infused oil accompanied by cabbage leaves. The whole bone-in chicken leg is baked in salt, pepper, and garlic until tender and savory. We also ordered Torineshi, Musubi, and Chicken Soup. A good start in Kagawa!
