Recommended bowl: XXL chashu

Manrai first opened in 1961, but has moved several times before settling in its current location. The president, Takano-san, also happens to own the entire building. Takano-san’s son now runs the kitchen. The soup is a salty shoyu base made with pork and chicken. The chashumen is infamous here and comes loaded with slabs of pork. Located just a few feet away from Horiuchi, a shop run by a former apprentice who serves almost the exact same menu.
