Recommended bowl: 4 Generations Deep
Open since 1958, Marukyo has been in the same family for four generations. The newish interior suggests that it was renovated fairly recently though. The master loves motorcycles, has flashy eyebrows, and gives off the vibe of someone not to be messed with. He serves a light pork and shoyu-based soup, with the emphasis on the shoyu in the usual Wakayama style. Many customers go for the chashumen for impressive visual effect (the bowls come laden with pork), but the house recommendation is the regular chuka soba. The soup and noodles are the star here.
