I visited this restaurant for the first time on the weekend.I made a reservation for dinner in advance through Tabelog.I arrived about five minutes early. Although it’s not too far from Toyama Station in a straight line, I took the tram and had to walk a bit from the station. However, I enjoyed exploring the area, so it was fine. This ryotei is housed in a large, traditional Japanese building. When I opened the sliding door to enter, I found myself in the entrance hall. Although there were guests and staff in the private room to the left, no one came to greet me, which made me wonder, "Is this the right entrance?" I felt a bit confused. After a few minutes, a staff member finally came out and guided me to the counter seats. The counter was relatively spacious, accommodating about eight people. There was a large window in front of me overlooking the garden. Since it was night, I couldn’t see much, but I could make out a small waterfall, which was quite soothing. This view was lovely. Now, after ordering drinks, it was time to start the meal. The starter was white shrimp, one of Toyama's specialties. I’m such a fan that I even order Toyama's white shrimp through the hometown tax program, so I was thrilled to start with this dish. It was slightly grilled, adding a nice aroma, and it was absolutely delicious.Next came the moon-viewing tofu. The tofu was served in a bowl, topped with a layer of egg. Honestly, I’m not very fond of eggs, so I hesitated a bit, but the tofu itself had a rich flavor, and I was able to enjoy it.Next was the sashimi. I received three pieces each of Aori squid from Shinminato and bonito from Himi, served with salt from Suzu in Ishikawa Prefecture. The freshness of the sashimi was outstanding, and the flavor was prominent. The Aori squid, in particular, was very firm and might have been the best dish of the day. Then came the red snow crab, served with crab miso. It was flaky yet firm, with a rich flavor, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was also the red snow crab from Shinminato, which had just been in season last week.Next was the hassun, beautifully presented with autumn motifs like susuki grass. Each dish was visually delightful, and I particularly enjoyed the combination of pear and prosciutto.Following that was the sweetfish with roe. I had previously seen them swimming, and I was served a whole fish grilled. It was incredibly fresh and one of the highlights of the meal. The sweetfish rice also left a strong impression.Even though I was quite full, the sweetfish rice served at the end was exquisite. If I had more room, I could have eaten it forever. I was able to request a refill, and they kindly made the leftovers into rice balls for me to take home. Finally, I finished with ice cream, traditional Japanese sweets, and fruit.Overall, I was able to enjoy seasonal local ingredients, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful, making for a highly satisfying meal. I would love to visit again if I have the chance. They even called a taxi for me at the end.It was a great meal!
