I had been wanting to visit Riba Tei, a long-standing yakitori restaurant in Yokohama. With 70 years of history, it continues to offer a delightful selection of yakitori, primarily through its omakase menu. The atmosphere inside reflects the charm of a traditional establishment that has been around for a long time, providing a sense of familiarity that differs from the more refined yakitori spots of today. The yakitori is rich with the aroma of charcoal, allowing you to enjoy the robust flavors reminiscent of classic yakitori. Rather than analyzing the subtle differences between each skewer, it feels more fitting to simply savor the freshly grilled offerings. The restaurant maintains a style that has been passed down through generations, preserving its unique character without overly conforming to trends, which I found quite appealing. The service has a distinctive distance typical of long-established places, which might be a bit confusing for first-time visitors. However, I believe that this atmosphere is part of what makes Riba Tei special. Personally, if the dishes and service aligned a bit more with my preferences, I would have rated it even higher. Nonetheless, it is definitely worth a visit when discussing yakitori in Yokohama. It was a night where I could truly appreciate the ambiance that only a long-standing restaurant can offer.
