I visited Shokudou aca located in the Garden Plaza of Azabudai Hills. This Spanish restaurant, known for its difficulty in securing reservations, offers a friendly atmosphere reminiscent of a bar. The interior features a counter with about nine seats, allowing diners to enjoy their meals while closely observing the chefs at work. The course menu primarily consists of small plates based on Spanish cuisine, designed to offer a variety of flavors while keeping portion sizes manageable. True to its name, "Shokudou" (diner), the ambiance is not overly formal, yet the preparation and presentation of the dishes are meticulous, providing a satisfying experience that goes beyond mere casual dining. The combinations of ingredients are surprising, blending the robust and aromatic qualities typical of Spanish cuisine with seasonal Japanese ingredients in a natural way. With each dish, my anticipation for the next course grew. The signature paella captures the essence of its ingredients, allowing the rice to absorb all the delicious flavors, including the crispy bits. The restaurant is filled with a lively energy, and engaging in conversation with the chefs and staff adds to the experience. While offering dishes comparable to high-end restaurants, it maintains a welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy a meal with friends and share laughter. Considering the quality of the food and the enjoyable time spent, my satisfaction level is high, and I would love to return if I can secure another reservation.
