Braised abalone and sea grapesAssorted delicacies: salted fish, shuto, soft-shelled turtle eggs, and karasumiUnaju (grilled eel over rice) with liver soup and picklesBottled beerWe celebrated a birthday and also beat the summer heat, but the meal was so hearty! Eel is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients. Here, they serve large, thick, and oily blue eel. You can get a free refill of rice, and large sizes are also complimentary. If you can’t finish your meal, they’ll provide a container for you to take it home. The staff's attentiveness is wonderful; first, you can reserve a seat at the restaurant. They will call you when your table is ready. You can choose between tatami and table seating, and if you want to try grilled eel liver, it's best to call ahead to reserve.Recently, they've started allowing parking at the Hakone Bakery, and I noticed some changes since my last visit. The assorted delicacies, including soft-shelled turtle eggs, were a first for me.The braised abalone had a unique seasoning and a firm texture. The beer glasses were made of bamboo!I hope to celebrate my birthday here every year.
