I visited Dogo Kaishu in Dogo, Matsuyama, hoping to enjoy some delicious fish. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere, bustling with the charm of a tourist spot, yet it allows for a leisurely dining experience. I think it’s a convenient place to consider when looking for a meal around Dogo Onsen. What stood out to me the most was the sashimi. Among them, the Sawara (Spanish mackerel) and Shima Aji (striped jack) were exceptionally delicious. The Sawara was moist and had a refined umami flavor that immediately conveyed the quality of the fish as soon as it touched my palate. It was mild in taste, with just the right amount of fat, making it one of my favorites. The Shima Aji was also very fresh, with a wonderful balance of firmness and sweetness. The more I chewed, the more its flavor spread, making it a perfect match for sake. Overall, the quality of the seafood was excellent, making this restaurant ideal for enjoying the bounty of the sea in Dogo. I highly recommend it for both tourist meals and for those looking to enjoy something delicious in a more relaxed setting. It was a great meal!
