After several attempts to make a reservation online, I finally succeeded. On Sunday at 11 AM, I enjoyed a pork cutlet set meal for JPY 8,900 at Yoda in Motomachi-Chukagai.Delicious! It was incredibly tasty—probably the best pork cutlet I've ever had in my life. I could end my review here, but I’ll provide some context for reference.I arrived 30 minutes early. At first, I couldn’t find the place relying on Google Maps, as it’s located in a somewhat hidden spot set back from the building. I arrived at the reserved time of 11 AM and was shown to the counter seats. There were only four other customers. I wasn’t skeptical, but it turned out to be true that they only accommodate eight people a day—four in the morning and four in the afternoon.A woman, presumably the owner’s wife, informed me, "Today, we have the rare cut of Tokyo X tenderloin." When I made the reservation, I had requested my first choice: three pieces of the rare cut tenderloin, second choice: two pieces, and third choice: loin. I was lucky enough to get my first choice. It took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I just sat there, but the chef was busy cooking right in front of me for the entire 30 minutes, which made me feel a bit guilty. During this time, there’s a QR code link in front of me that explains the best way to enjoy the pork cutlet, so it’s a good idea to read it beforehand:- Do not directly apply sauce or soy sauce to the cutlet; instead, apply it to the cut surfaces.- Eat the cutlet first with wasabi soy sauce or salt.- Only apply sauce to the cabbage as needed.- When the rice arrives, eat it with salt. There are quite a few specific guidelines (please check the website for accuracy). Finally, the pork cutlet arrived. It was truly delicious. The meat was so tender. I’ve had Tokyo X served with tsukemen before, but it might actually be better suited for pork cutlet. The batter was also light and flaky, perfectly complementing the tender meat. The salt was tasty, but dipping it in wasabi soy sauce made it even better. The rice arrived at just the right time. Following the guidelines, I enjoyed it with the cutlet and salt. It was also delicious. Finally, miso soup and orange for dessert were served, making it feel like a full-course meal.JPY 8,900 is an extravagant price for a pork cutlet, but considering it might be the best pork cutlet I’ve ever had, it could be seen as a bargain. It would be fantastic to come here with friends, but given how difficult it is to make a reservation, securing seats for two out of four people would be even more challenging.
