The main event of my visit to Nagano was coming to Yamasei. I made a reservation through Ikkyu about a week in advance and secured a spot for noon on the day of my visit. The restaurant opened right on time. Although you can't tell from the outside, the interior has a view of a courtyard, creating a sophisticated atmosphere. I was seated at a spacious counter with ample distance between seats.I ordered the Unaju (grilled eel over rice) and grilled liver. The liver arrived first, about 20 minutes later. Its crunchy texture and slightly bitter flavor were delicious! Absolutely the best! (´∀`*)About 10 minutes later, the main dish, Unaju, was served. I wonder if Nagano is a bit closer to Kansai? The eel had a crispy texture while remaining fluffy and flavorful! The sauce complemented the eel without overpowering it, making it very rich in taste. After settling the bill, the handsome owner came out from the kitchen to greet me. Thank you for serving such delicious eel!
