My husband made a reservation for us to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we drove from Tokyo to this lovely restaurant. Since it was the first day of a long weekend, we arrived a bit early, but we were able to stroll around the area, enjoying the nearby Higashiyama Former Residence and Toraya Workshop. When we arrived a little before our reservation time, we waited briefly in the waiting room and were seated right on time. The large windows offered a view of the garden filled with herbs and distant mountains. We were seated at a cozy spot by the window, and although it was cloudy, the view was still wonderful. I've heard that Mount Fuji is visible during the clear winter months, particularly from December to February. My companion ordered a beer (Chimay), while I toasted with a refreshing shiso juice made from the abundant shiso plants in the herb garden. The shiso juice was not overly sweet and was quite delicious. Every dish we had was thoughtfully prepared, showcasing the flavors of the ingredients, making for a delightful experience for both the palate and the eyes. The standout dish was the grilled skin of the red snapper, which was perfectly cooked, and the sauce and side dishes were equally delicious. The service was exceptional, making our visit very comfortable. I would love to return when the seasons change.
