I arrived around the opening time on Saturday and was greeted by a long line. This place is said to be one of the highest-rated udon shops in Japan, so I was eager to finally check it out. It feels more like a small local supermarket than a typical udon restaurant, with tempura and kara-age served alongside the udon, reminiscent of a deli section. As for the long-awaited udon, I can confidently say this is the real deal when it comes to Sanuki udon. It was delicious, and to truly enjoy the noodles, I was advised to add a dash of the soy sauce available on the table. It’s likely not your average soy sauce, so even if you pour a bit too much, it won’t be a problem. Due to its high ratings, those who expect the taste and sides to elevate the udon experience might be disappointed, but the noodles themselves are truly excellent. If they really focused on that aspect, there wouldn’t be any udon shops left that could compete with this one. It was a great meal! In the summer, I recommend bringing a parasol, as you might have to wait in the sun. The parking lot is managed by an elderly gentleman who guides you; it seems to accommodate around 50 cars.
