I had the pleasure of enjoying the yakitori from the renowned "Yakitori Taniguchi" in Mukonoso, Amagasaki, at a members-only restaurant called Sou in Higashi-Kanda, Tokyo. Chef Taniguchi, originally from Mitaka, Tokyo, honed his skills through self-study and hands-on experience before opening his own place in 2018. Now, his Mukonoso restaurant has become quite difficult to book! Thanks to an invitation from yakitori experts, I was able to savor Chef Taniguchi's yakitori—what a treat! They use one whole Takasaka chicken for two people. The cooking was absolutely outstanding! My friends were amazed too! I could feel the chef's dedication as he brought everything from Hyogo, including the grill, charcoal, and ingredients. Here’s what we enjoyed:- Chicken Soup - Chicken Breast Sashimi - Liver Sashimi - Gizzard Sashimi - Heart Sashimi - Chicken Breast - Tataki with Yama Wasabi—so delicious! - Chicken Thigh with Pepper—rich and tasty! - Grated Daikon as a palate cleanser - Tsukune—this was the fluffiest I’ve ever had! - Lean Meat - Chicken Thigh - Tomato—sweet and perfectly cooked! - Negima (Chicken and Green Onion) - Chicken Wing - Liver Pâté - Upper Thigh - Asparagus from Hokkaido - Furikake (Chicken Wing) - Chicken Rice - Chicken Soup - Dessert: Pudding (I was so full that I took it home!) The pairing was JPY 39,200 per person. If I ever go to Hyogo, this is definitely a place I want to visit. I heard they are also opening a location in Osaka! The photos after the beer are in the order they were served.
