Nestled in a residential area of Tohoku-zawa, Sushi Nishizaki is a popular restaurant that’s hard to book! At first glance, it seems serious, but the charming personality of the chef makes it a place I absolutely love. Every dish (appetizer) and nigiri is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, showcasing a unique focus on texture. Among the standout offerings, the highly acclaimed appetizer "ankimo" (monkfish liver) is completely free of any off-flavors, offering a melt-in-your-mouth experience that is simply overwhelming. The "squid nigiri" features layers of squid arranged in a mille-feuille style, allowing you to savor the rich umami of the squid while enjoying its tenderness—truly an exquisite dish! The accompanying drinks are exclusively Japanese sake! The chef personally selects rare local sakes that can only be found in the area, and they pair perfectly with the dishes, which is quite surprising! I found myself drinking at a faster pace (laughs).
