I visited Kyogoku Zushi in Shiga Prefecture for a lunch I had been looking forward to, and I enjoyed the omakase set of 15 pieces at a table. This time, it included chawanmushi (savory egg custard) and dessert for JPY 7,700. Starting with flounder, flatfish, and red squid, the selection included medium fatty tuna, Biwa trout, marinated red meat, golden eye snapper, sweet shrimp, swordfish, amberjack, mackerel, horse mackerel, scallops, simmered eel, and purple sea urchin—an impressive array for just 15 pieces. Among them, the Biwa trout, the rich medium fatty tuna, and the purple sea urchin left a lasting impression. The chawanmushi featured "Lacto Serum Shiga Tsuyako Fromage," which was an interesting dish as well. I finished with brown sugar pudding, making for a highly satisfying lunch. Given the quality for JPY 7,700, I felt it was quite a good value. It was a great meal. Next time, I would like to try sitting at the counter.
