Memories at APICIUSI came to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday with my sister and her husband, who returned from the Netherlands. If Chef Takahashi were still alive, he would be turning 90 next month. We enjoyed a menu and course inspired by his legacy. For the final dessert, we had a birthday plate that captured a story from my mother's middle school days, when she borrowed pencils from Chef Takahashi, who was her childhood friend living next door. If he were here... I wonder if he would have celebrated like this.My mother is about to move into a senior home, and as the number of people who knew Chef Takahashi directly decreases, she reflected on how he rose in the industry, having known him since childhood. My sister and I also reminisced about the times we met Chef Takahashi at the restaurant while he was alive. The flavors of the grand maison felt like a blend of evolution and tradition in each dish. The desserts were particularly impressive, and we enjoyed them thoroughly.I express my gratitude and respect to everyone who has been preserving both the long-standing and new menus at this establishment.I wonder when I will be able to come again... I hope this place, filled with so many memories, will always be here, continuing to offer the same excitement without change.
