During the second half of Silver Week, I finally visited Otowa Restaurant, which I had been wanting to try for a long time. The interior is quite spacious, accommodating nearly 70 guests for large groups. It was fully booked on the day of my visit, mostly with pairs, but everyone seemed to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere at the four-person tables. I opted for the 7-course pairing for JPY 18,000, which included 100ml of champagne and 40ml servings thereafter. The main dish featured Wagyu fillet, accompanied by the restaurant's specialty, abalone wrapped in pastry. The cooking of the Wagyu fillet was absolutely perfect, and the wine disappeared in an instant. The abalone pastry was simply outstanding. Additionally, the bitterness of the sweetfish somen paired perfectly with the Japanese sake, which was the only sake in the pairing. I will definitely return!
