Every year, I celebrate my anniversary at my favorite restaurant with my husband. This year, we visited for our anniversary lunch, making it our fourth time! No matter how many times I come, this place always makes me think, "I really love it here," and this year was no exception; we had a wonderfully satisfying time. This time, our bill came to JPY 24,000 plus a 10% service charge, totaling JPY 26,400. One thing I always look forward to when visiting Restaurant Ryuzu is the French bread! It’s flown in from Luxembourg, and it’s truly the best. The crust is crispy, while the inside is chewy and delicious with every bite. Just thinking about "I can eat this again this year!" before the meal starts brings me joy. Haha! Of course, we can have refills, and this year, we ended up eating three loaves of French bread between the two of us. Maybe a bit too much! Haha! Plus, they even let us refill the butter, so we enjoyed the bread without holding back. As a result, I was so full that I only had lunch that day! Haha! For the amuse-bouche, we had: - Bread and cheese - Sardines with semi-dried tomatoes and caramelized onions Next was a dish of tomato foam and paprika mousse. I particularly loved the presentation of the hairy crab, lobster fondant, and winter melon dish; it was so cute! The anago (conger eel) beignet came with a balsamic vinegar sauce, Managiri peppers, okra, and capers. I was a bit worried that the capers might be too strong, but they turned out to be delicious! The combination of ingredients was exquisite. The ayu (sweetfish) was deboned, and the bones were made into a cracker before being plated again. I was touched by this extra effort. For the main course, we had sirloin cap from Hokkaido and vegetables from Noto. Originally, it was a lamb dish, but since I’m not fond of lamb, they kindly changed it for me. I appreciated their thoughtfulness in knowing my preferences and removing the herbs. They cooked my meat well-done, and it was incredibly delicious. For dessert 1, we had raspberry sorbet and lychee. The lychee was delicious and memorable! Dessert 2 was olive ice cream with mascarpone. It had a nice saltiness, making it a sophisticated dessert that wasn’t just sweet. At the end, they prepared a special anniversary plate for us, making this year’s anniversary lunch truly wonderful. Not only is the food delicious, but the fact that they remember our preferences every time we visit is one of the reasons we want to return to this restaurant year after year. And of course, that French bread is the best no matter how many times I eat it. I would be thrilled to celebrate our anniversary here again next year!
