On this day, I had lunch at HATSUNEZUSHI in Kamata. The entrance resembles a coffee shop, so if you're looking for a typical sushi restaurant exterior, you might walk right past it. The interior has a chic vibe, yet it offers an interesting atmosphere, allowing for a casual dining experience. Here’s what I had for the lunch course:■ Sea Bream Roe ■ Tuna Akami ■ Tuna Chutoro ■ Tuna Tataki with Iburi Gakko ■ Kohada ■ Aori Ika ■ Isaki ■ Steamed Clams with Sake ■ Horse Mackerel ■ Torigai ■ Bonito ■ Sea Urchin ■ Anago ■ Kanpyo Maki ■ Clear Soup ■ Dessert ■ Draft Beer ■ Gakki Masamune Kurodaiginjo First, they show you the freshly cooked rice, which is prepared just in time for your meal. As the aroma of vinegar fills the room, the sushi rice cutting begins. This kind of presentation adds to the fun of the experience. You start by taking a small amount of rice in your hand, and after enjoying the first dish of Sea Bream Roe, the sushi is served at a nice pace. What stood out to me were the Aori Ika and Bonito. The Aori Ika had a sticky texture and a rich sweetness, making it incredibly delicious. The Bonito had a refreshing and light flavor that was also delightful. The way the sushi was served was interesting, with multiple pieces of tuna coming out in succession and the Kohada being served skin-side down. I’m not sure why they did it that way, but it added to the experience. For dessert, we moved to a Southern European-style space on the second floor of the restaurant, which showed that they put thought into their presentation.Overall, the various presentations and surprises made for an enjoyable experience. It was a great meal!
