I visited the well-known and long-established Yakiniku Kosen, a popular yakiniku restaurant located in Katsushika Ward, Tateishi. This place has been loved by locals for many years, offering carefully selected high-quality meat at an exceptional cost-performance ratio in the charming atmosphere of the downtown Tateishi area.This time, I ordered the signature dish, "Kalbi (or Jo Kalbi)," to fully enjoy the quality of the restaurant.When the plate arrived, it was beautifully arranged with thick cuts of meat showcasing exquisite marbling on a simple white round plate. The moment it was placed on the table, I was captivated by the high quality and generous portion of the meat.The meat was evenly marbled, with a striking contrast between the vibrant red lean meat and the white fat, creating an artistic presentation. Generously drizzled over it was the restaurant's special homemade marinade, with finely chopped green onions and sesame seeds clinging to the meat. The visual appeal of the dish, soaked in the marinade, was so enticing that it heightened my appetite even before cooking.I immediately grilled a piece on the net (or teppan) and took a bite. As it cooked, the high-quality fat gently melted, releasing a fragrant aroma from the caramelizing marinade that stimulated my senses. When I took a bite, it was surprisingly moist and tender, requiring almost no chewing. With each bite, the rich umami of the lean meat, the sweetness of the marinade, and the richness of the fat combined in a delightful explosion of flavor.The deep flavor of the marinade, enhanced by garlic and spices, elevated the deliciousness of the meat to its peak, making it devilishly good with chilled beer or highballs, and it paired perfectly with white rice.This was a truly satisfying and exquisite meat dish, showcasing the perfect balance of the marinade and the meticulous craftsmanship in cutting the meat.The interior exuded a nostalgic, homey Showa retro atmosphere, and combined with the pleasant energy and attentive service, I was able to enjoy a blissful yakiniku experience. I definitely want to return when I crave that robust, high-quality, exquisite marinated yakiniku in the Tateishi area. It was a great meal!
