I visited the highly sought-after restaurant "Kabuto" in Ikebukuro, making a reservation for the 3 PM slot.As a renowned eel restaurant, I was excited about the food, but what truly left an impression was the warm hospitality of the couple running the place. Both were incredibly friendly, engaging with us naturally, which made for a very comfortable experience without any tension, even as first-time visitors. Moreover, it was not just about enjoying eel.During our visit, we had the opportunity to compare the heads of wild and farmed eels side by side, learning about the differences in shape and smell. To top it off, we even got to taste a live, moving heart! These were experiences that you rarely find in a typical eel restaurant, and the three hours flew by.The meal included a tasting of both wild and farmed eel, allowing us to appreciate the differences, which was quite fascinating. The highlight was the grilled eel, which was simply stunning. With its beautifully charred surface and tender flesh, it left a different impression compared to any eel I had eaten before. While securing a reservation can be quite challenging, it doesn’t mean that there are absolutely no slots available. For eel lovers and those looking for a unique dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary, I highly recommend giving this place a try.
