Located just a 4-minute walk from Yakuin Station, I visited the award-winning soba restaurant, Akama Chaya Asago, which has received the BRONZE AWARD as one of the top 100 soba shops.Around 12:30 PM, I tried to visit two of the top 100 soba restaurants, but both had over an hour wait. However, I arrived at this renowned soba shop around 1 PM on a weekday and found no waiting customers. I was able to enter smoothly, and it was just at full capacity. Surprisingly, I got into this challenging restaurant without any wait—what a stroke of luck!I ordered the duck soba for JPY 3,080. Due to a high volume of orders, it took about 15 minutes to be served.The soba was served with the first plate cold and the second plate hot, and in between, I was treated to some soba dumplings.The soba had an incredible aroma and an excellent texture, both chewy and satisfying. It was truly delicious. The cold soba was firm, while the hot version was slightly softer with a gentle flavor.The dipping sauce was quite rich but low in salt, with a deep umami flavor. The duck and green onions were exceptionally tasty, and the duck fat paired perfectly with the soba! It was genuinely delicious.Including the soba broth, I enjoyed every last bit.
