On this day, I visited Teuchi Soba Jiyu San, a place I had been curious about for a while! The restaurant is located about a 7-8 minute walk from Shin-Egota Station on the Toei Oedo Line or Higashi-Nagasaki Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.〈What I had〉Appetizers and drinks included in the charge (I chose beer)Grilled shrimp marinated in misoGrilled misoJapanese omeletTwo types of soba: seiro and inakaVarious types of Japanese sakeThe appetizers that day included homemade pickled vegetables, simmered mushrooms, spinach with white sesame, and burdock root salad—four delightful dishes. Each was carefully arranged on a wooden tray, showcasing the natural flavors of the ingredients, making them perfect for a palate cleanser!Grilled shrimp marinated in miso:Perfectly grilled to a delightful crisp, the richness of the shrimp combined with the concentrated flavor of the miso was simply the best! A must-try for shrimp lovers.Grilled miso:The irresistible charred surface made it an excellent accompaniment to enjoy slowly. This was the fluffiest grilled miso I have ever tasted.Japanese omelet:Not only was it well-infused with dashi, but it was also fluffy and light. Paired with the grated daikon, it offered a soothing taste. Two types of soba: seiro and inaka:The seiro, which arrived first, was thinly sliced and refreshing, with a pleasant texture and a clear broth that highlighted its flavor. The inaka soba that followed was so rich in flavor and sweetness that I enjoyed it mostly with salt, allowing me to fully appreciate the contrast in texture and taste between the two types of soba. The soba-yu (soba water) was creamy like a potage, and even though I was full, I ended up drinking it all. This was my first visit, but the meticulous craftsmanship shone through, and the warm hospitality from the owner and his wife made me want to return again and again. It was a great meal! I will definitely visit again.
