This place will change your perception of Chinese cuisine. Nestled in a residential area, it blends in so well that you might not even realize it’s a restaurant unless you pay attention. I ordered a course with wine pairing and enjoyed watching the staff at the counter while waiting for my meal. The dishes have a complex flavor profile that combines elements of French cuisine, yet there are also straightforward, classic Chinese dishes available. The most impressive dish was the Beef with Green Peppers (Qing Jiao Niu Si). Typically, this dish includes bell peppers, thinly sliced beef, and often bamboo shoots, but here it’s made simply with just bell peppers and beef, and the meat is cooked rare. The umami flavor comes through beautifully. Without a doubt, this is the best Beef with Green Peppers I’ve ever had. Once you try this version, you won’t want to eat it anywhere else. The Black Pepper Char Siu (BBQ Pork) was also remarkable. The richness of the pork fat combined with the punch of black pepper was perfect. The portion size was just right, allowing me to savor every bite without feeling overwhelmed. The menu changes with the seasons, so I definitely want to visit again.
