July at Kabuto.I had a wonderful time with a lovely companion today. Discussing eel at Kabuto is truly the best experience.Mr. Fujimori's bandana was themed for Tanabata. What a fitting choice for this season!Natural: Amakusa, Lake Shinji, Aomori (likely Lake Ogawara) Farmed: Shizuoka▶︎ Today's Dishes - Grilled Eel (Steamed) - Grilled Eel (Charcoal Grilled) - Tenderloin - Grilled Liver - Skewers - Tail - Natural Grilled Eel - Bite-sized Kabayaki - Natural Grilled Liver - Liver - Natural Tenderloin - White Grilled Eel - Eel Rice Bowl (Super Large) - Liver Soup I was delighted to have so many skewers today. Surprisingly, the natural grilled eel left a strong impression. I hit the jackpot with the natural grilled liver! The white grilled eel was from Lake Shinji and Shizuoka. The Lake Shinji eel had a very subtle flavor and aroma, giving it a calm feeling. Personally, it lacked the grassy notes I often find in Lake Shinji eels, making it quite similar to farmed eels. I wonder what this eel was eating! I requested the eel rice bowl to be piled high with rice again. I feel like I could eat an endless amount of this eel rice bowl! The Aomori eel was likely from Lake Ogawara, with a soft texture and rich fat. It had a pleasantly unique aroma and a mild umami flavor, making it delicious. It paired perfectly with Kabuto's amazing sauce. The farmed eel was also undeniably tasty, and the generous portion of rice disappeared in an instant! I really love Kabuto's kabayaki.Once again, time flew by today. I enjoyed a lot of delicious eel and had great conversations, which felt like the ultimate luxury. Thanks to my companion, I truly had a wonderful time today. Thank you very much! It was a feast!
