I found myself in Hamamatsu for the first time, searching for local specialties. Naturally, I looked up eel and began searching for eel restaurants. Since it was a day trip, I wanted to find a place that accepted reservations. I discovered a prestigious eel restaurant that allowed bookings through an omakase website. Since I might not return to Hamamatsu, I paid JPY 390 to reserve a spot at the highly-rated Uroko, right in front of the grill. They kindly offered to cover my belongings with a towel to protect them from flying ash. Although I haven't eaten eel often, the texture was a delightful combination of crispy and fluffy. The sauce was not overpowering, and if I had the budget, I could easily eat two servings. It was a flavor I could enjoy forever. I never knew eel could be this delicious. Without a doubt, it was the best eel I've ever had.
