About two months ago, I made a web reservation and enjoyed a Linner (Lunch and Dinner) with my wife starting at 3 PM.The restaurant had a charming, aged wooden interior. On that day, the counter and tables were fully occupied with around 14 guests. We opted for the "Omakase Course at JPY 15,000 (tax included, cash only)." However, the price can vary depending on options such as whether to include additional dishes while waiting for the eel to be grilled, and whether to choose wild eel, farmed eel, or a mix of both for each eel dish. The chef kindly explained that first-time visitors like us would be served farmed eel instead of wild eel. Here’s what we enjoyed:- Cucumber with plum dressing- (Skewers) Eel head comparison: Kanto-style (steamed) and Kansai-style (grilled with salt) → The crispy, salty Kansai-style was delicious.- (Skewers) Tail, belly fin, back fin with sauce → These parts are usually discarded at most places, but they were tasty thanks to the sauce.- (Skewers) Grilled liver → The slight bitterness and sweetness were perfectly balanced.- (Skewers) Tail with salt → It had a strong umami flavor.- (Skewers) Bite-sized grilled eel- (Skewers) Tail with sauce- Eel heart → A small heart that was still beating. It had a slightly tingling, mysterious texture when bitten.- (Skewers) Wild eel head with salt → It had a wonderful aroma.- Grilled eel (1 whole) → Crispy, hot, and delicious!- Grilled eel (1 whole) with rice → The well-grilled eel was firm, fragrant, and the sauce was tasty! It paired perfectly with the rice!- Liver soupWe were able to enjoy various parts of the eel, seasoned with either sauce or salt. It was a rare experience. The grilled and white eel with rice was so delicious that I felt a sense of happiness for a long time. The chef provided detailed explanations about the eel parts and recommended ways to enjoy them. It was also fun to watch him prepare the eel right in front of us.For drinks, we had:- Draft beer- Hitoatahan Junmai Ginjo (Yamagata)- Yuuki Junmai Ginjo (Nagano)- Nakara Junmai (Yamagata)- Shinsenbi (Fukuoka)- Barley tea x 2The total bill for two came to JPY 33,000.It was a truly satisfying eel dinner. It was a great meal!
