I visited for lunch. I took a vacation and traveled to the northern part of Akita Prefecture, so I came to this famous yakiniku lunch spot near Akita Station. Since it’s a super popular restaurant, I made a reservation in advance and ordered the Harami lunch at that time. Arriving at 11:30, right when they opened, I found two groups already dining. I requested the Harami lunch with a smaller portion of rice and also ordered the local beer, Namahage IPA.The grill at the counter was already set up with charcoal, and it was piping hot.◎ Harami Lunch The set included rice, wakame soup, pickled cucumbers, and a ponzu salad with sunny lettuce and Korean seaweed. The star of the meal, the Harami, was cut into large pieces about 3 cm thick, with more than 10 slices. When placed on the high-temperature charcoal, it was ready to eat in about 3 minutes on each side. Both the marinade and dipping sauce were delicious, and adding a generous amount of wasabi made the perfectly cooked meat tender yet satisfying to chew.◎ Namahage IPA The lunch crowd was full right from opening, proving it’s indeed a super popular restaurant. It had been a while since I had yakiniku, but despite the generous portions, I didn’t feel heavy after the meal, and it was incredibly delicious. It was a great meal!
