I visited Tonkatsu Fujii for the second time after successfully making a reservation a month and a half ago. Upon entering, the interior and background music created a calming atmosphere. While I was deciding what to order, the staff kindly provided detailed explanations of the menu.I ordered the roast pork from Ume-yama pork, a half portion of tenderloin from Ebisu-mochi pork, and a minced cutlet. The staff checked if I was okay with the Ume-yama pork being quite fatty.First, the minced cutlet arrived. The coating was light, and the minced meat was fluffy, bursting with juice but not greasy, making it a refined and delicious dish. The roast pork had a sweet fat that wasn’t overwhelming, and it paired well with salt or sauce. In contrast, the meat part was relatively light. The left side was cut thick, providing a nice chew, while the right side was slightly thinner and more tender. The tenderloin was incredibly soft, almost melting in my mouth. I was a bit surprised that this tenderloin had a meatier flavor compared to the roast pork. Perhaps it’s due to the difference in the cuts.I felt like having some drinks, but I held back.I couldn’t resist adding the chicken tender cutlet nanban. The chicken was fluffy, and the nanban sauce was delicious. All the dishes had a light, crispy coating, making them easy to eat, but I realized afterward that I might have overindulged. The tonkatsu was, of course, delicious, but the sides were exceptional as well.Despite being a famous restaurant, there was no arrogance, and the service was excellent.
