I finally visited Tamawarai, a place I had wanted to go for a long time.Arriving at 11 AM, there were already two people in the waiting area with six seats.By the time the restaurant opened at 11:30 AM, there were seven people waiting. After a while, I was seated at a cozy two-person table by the window, creating a nostalgic atmosphere with its dim lighting contrasted by the brightness outside.I ordered sobakaki, tamagoyaki, and coarse soba, and while waiting, I enjoyed a chilled small bottle of beer. This was my first experience with sobakaki. The dipping sauce arrived first, with a sweet and savory aroma. Then, the hot and fragrant sobakaki made from buckwheat flour was served. I scooped up the chewy sobakaki with my chopsticks and was pleasantly surprised by its deliciousness! The tamagoyaki was fluffy, with dashi oozing out. The grated Japanese radish served alongside was also delightful. Finally, the coarse soba arrived. It had a nice bite to it—not too thick or too thin—and it paired perfectly with the dipping sauce. The sobayu (soba water) was rich and tasty, making me want to try it mixed with the dipping sauce. The soba tea served at the time of payment was hot and fragrant, and it was delicious as well.I was satisfied with both the atmosphere and the flavors. It was a great meal!
