This is a lovely restaurant located in a spot with a fantastic view in Hakodate. The scenery and atmosphere are great, and the lunch offers excellent value for money, so I made a reservation to visit. The dishes were a wonderful blend of creative cuisine and traditional recipes using Hokkaido ingredients. To start, I enjoyed herring cookies, tomato and octopus gazpacho, squid ink with melon and surf clam, sautéed soy, braised beef cheek, and a trio of desserts. For a lunch price of JPY 8,000, this is quite a bargain. The first half of the meal featured creative dishes prominently showcasing Hokkaido ingredients, while the fish and meat courses were prepared in a traditional French style. The sautéed dishes with butter, lemon, and white wine sauce, as well as the braised beef cheek in red wine sauce, were remarkable, highlighting the deliciousness of the sauces while maintaining a good balance with the ingredients. The pairing with wine was exceptional. The warm welcome, attentive service, and even the chef personally seeing us off made this restaurant a truly enriching experience. Without a doubt, it is the number one restaurant in Hakodate.
