A few days ago, I made a reservation for two people for three eel portions and arrived shortly after 2 PM. I was informed that the eel for the day had already run out, but it seemed like there were many customers, so I waited almost an hour to be seated.Since both of us had overindulged at the breakfast buffet, we decided to have one portion packed as a takeout Unaju (grilled eel over rice) and ordered two half portions of Unaju for an additional JPY 200.While waiting for the Unaju and grilled eel to be prepared, we enjoyed two types of mozuku seaweed and peanut tofu with beer. As a treat for our wait in the heat, the restaurant also offered us a complimentary junsai (water shield) jelly, which was lavishly topped with onsen egg, sea urchin, and salmon roe, but since my companion dislikes these ingredients, I savored it all by myself. The grilled eel was served with natural wasabi, sansho miso, and yuzu pepper, making it rich and fluffy in flavor. It paired wonderfully with their homemade ponzu sauce. The eel in the Unaju was, of course, delicious, and the sauce was to my liking. I shared the portion, but I was so full that I couldn't finish the rice, which was a bit disappointing.
