Himawari Shokudo 2, an Italian restaurant located about an 8-10 minute walk from Toyama Station, has been highly rated even before its relocation, and it continues to impress after moving. It was selected as a Tabelog Bronze restaurant in 2026.Surprisingly, they accept online reservations, making it easy to plan ahead. The interior features an open kitchen, where the sounds of efficient cooking heighten your appetite. Here are the dishes we enjoyed:-----------------------------◾️ White Shrimp We started the course with a creatively presented appetizer featuring white shrimp paired with a puree of musk melon and zucchini, peach, and a kombu kelp broth jelly. The sweetness of the peach harmonized beautifully with the texture and flavor of the white shrimp, offering a refreshing yet satisfying experience.◾️ Red Bell Pepper This dish featured red bell pepper stuffed with horse mackerel sashimi, complemented by two sauces made from yogurt and fermented tomatoes. The aroma reminiscent of bonito flakes, along with the nutty texture and herbal notes, highlighted the umami of the horse mackerel.◾️ Mackerel Pike The zeppole were generously filled with mackerel pike, providing a fluffy and warm texture. The dish was enhanced by a layer of tangy onions at the bottom and a creamy aioli sauce, making it absolutely delicious!◾️ Squid This creative dish combined squid with grilled eggplant, topped with squid ink and bitter melon espuma. The refreshing aroma reminiscent of shiso and the sweet, noodle-like texture of the squid were simply wonderful.◾️ Cod The cod was gently cooked and served as a meunière, accompanied by okra and sunflower sprouts, all brought together with a coconut and tomato sauce that had a rich flavor reminiscent of butter chicken curry.◾️ Octopus This dish featured octopus rice made with a locally developed rice called Tenkomori, paired with octopus ragù sauce. The crispy potato chips added a delightful crunch, while the refreshing flavors of myoga and sansho pepper were exquisite.◾️ Ikeda Beef The grilled Ikeda beef was simply seasoned with salt and pepper. Sourced from Ikeda Farm in Toyama Prefecture, this beef, raised over a long period, showcased a robust umami flavor and the dedication of its producers.◾️ Tomato We concluded the meal with a pasta dish featuring tomatoes and sweet long peppers, typical of Italian cuisine. The thick noodles provided a chewy texture, and the dish left a lasting impression with its spicy aftertaste, making it highly satisfying.◾️ Corn For dessert, we enjoyed a crepe filled with rice pudding topped with corn gelato. The sweetness of the corn gelato, made from high-sugar corn, was simply divine!◾️ Tea Sweets We finished the course by savoring tea sweets like lemon cookies along with herbal tea.-----------------------------This restaurant offers high-quality creative Italian cuisine that you can’t find anywhere else, so be sure to visit!Thank you for the meal!*Instagram Gourmet Account https://www.instagram.com/shunsuke.naka/ (Followers surpassed 10,000!)*Gourmet Blog https://syn-gourmet.com*Comprehensive Links https://lit.link/syngourmet
