A long-established restaurant in Gion, Kyoto, known for its incredibly fresh beef sashimi and signature grilled dishes that meat lovers frequent. The second-floor table seating can be reserved in advance. You can enjoy a flow of dishes from sashimi to grilled items and stews, all chosen by the chef. While photography of the sashimi is not allowed, the yukhoe (beef tartare), tongue sashimi, and outside skirt sashimi are exceptional. The melt-in-your-mouth sweetness of the fat and the richness of the lean meat, brought out by the chef's skilled knife work, perfectly balance with the unique sauces and condiments. The grilled and stewed dishes that followed were also delicious, but it took some time for them to be served, and I ended up feeling full from the meat alone, which was a bit disappointing.
