My previous visit left a strong impression, so I returned to Tonkatsu Fujii in Senbayashi. This time, I enjoyed the Ume-yama pork loin, Ebisu mochi pork tenderloin, menchi-katsu, and chicken breast katsu.Once again, my expectations were not only met but exceeded, reaffirming the high standards of this restaurant. The Ume-yama pork loin was cooked to perfection, with a wonderful balance of the sweetness of the fat and the umami of the lean meat. The coating was light and crispy, allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine through. The Ebisu mochi pork tenderloin was astonishingly tender, with a moist texture. It had a refined flavor unique to the tenderloin, making it enjoyable to compare with the loin. What particularly stood out this time was the menchi-katsu. With just one bite, the juices burst forth, filling my mouth with the concentrated flavor of the meat. The chicken breast katsu was also far from dry, boasting a fluffy and juicy finish. While some restaurants may lose their charm upon a second visit, this one reaffirms its deliciousness. You can feel the care put into ingredient selection, cooking, and frying techniques. It's a place I would want to visit regularly if it were closer.
