A friend asked me, "Please treat me to something delicious for my birthday!"I’m weak when it comes to such requests. So, I invited them to Les Saisons, a place I’ve been wanting to revisit for a long time.It was my first visit in a while.I made a reservation about a week in advance for a weekday lunch. We enjoyed the JPY 18,000 course.- Chilled corn soup- Summer vegetables with squid ink sauce- Mussels in curry sauce- Grilled eel with myoga and nasu (Japanese eggplant) in a jibril sauce- Pan-seared Wagyu sirloin cap- Three types of petit fours including cream puffs- White peach soufflé- Verbena ice cream- ChocolateThe appetizers were refreshing and perfect for summer. The mussels in curry sauce were packed with flavor. The jibril eel had a crispy skin. The eggplant, braised in a mild sauce, paired beautifully with the myoga, creating a wonderful fusion of Japanese and French flavors. The pan-seared sirloin cap was tender and seasoned just to my liking. For dessert, we started with a freshly baked, fluffy sweet soufflé.Next was a refreshing ice cream with a hint of herbs. The contrast between the two was delightful. As expected from the main dining room of the Imperial Hotel, the quality of the lunch, including the service, was exceptionally high.It was a great meal!
