Nestled on the second floor of a butcher shop in the Yanagase area, this hidden gem sources fresh Omi chicken from "Kashiwa no Kawanaka" in Otsu, Shiga. Each day, the chef personally prepares the skewers and grills them with care over Kishu binchotan charcoal, resulting in yakitori that bursts with a delightful combination of tenderness and juiciness. With around 25 varieties on the menu, including rare cuts like matsuba (collar) and chikara kobu (shoulder), the restaurant utilizes two different grilling stations to maximize the flavor of each part. The quality of the chicken dishes, such as the marinated chicken thigh, is exceptional, and the chef, who hails from the renowned Japanese restaurant "Takada Hassho," ensures that the non-skewer offerings are equally impressive. Sitting at the counter, you can enjoy the craftsmanship up close while savoring Japanese sake or shochu, making for a blissful experience. The finishing touch is a light ochazuke (rice with tea), which leaves you completely satisfied. This popular spot requires reservations, but it is undoubtedly worth the effort!
