Located just off Cat Street, heading from Harajuku to Shibuya, I visited the soba restaurant "Tamawarai." Although I arrived without a reservation, I was able to dine a la carte, as it seems they usually operate on a reservation-only basis for courses. Since it was an hour before closing, I ordered a drink (Nagano's Nigori Sake, three times the amount) along with a side dish of soba miso. This exquisite dish, made with Shinshu miso, buckwheat groats, and green onions, paired wonderfully with the sake. Finally, I ordered the "Arobiki Seiro" (coarse buckwheat noodles). The flavor was robust, and the texture was exceptional. Next time, I will make sure to reserve in advance.
